Taking Pictures of Lightning
This article will explain the basic settings that you use to achieve stunning results.
The trick is that you must not take the flash with the camera. They opened the shutter, wait for the closing the shutter to happen. You need a digital SLR camera, a tripod, and preferably an electronic cable release.
Set the camera to manual exposure control. Select the exposure time of the bulb, as this keeps the shutter open until you press the button. It should be low ISO (100 or 200) because we do not want noisy images. The amount of light emitted by the flash more than enough to make a correctly exposed image.
The choice of the right panel is a bit ‘more complicated. As a general rule, should be smaller F-number (larger aperture) for storms away, and you can stop when the flash is in the area, as it is lighter.
When you set the camera, it is necessary after the flash, press the button on the cable release, time to get to the fire, then close the shutter button is released. If you’re in a dark place, away from the city, the ambient light is not a big problem, you can increase the shutter open as long as you want without ruining the image.
Finally, be careful, like flash photography can be dangerous. Try the site selection, which is certainly a storm. Avoid open-field or proximity to lines of trees, water or power poles.
